After several days in Vienna we were ready for a detour from the menus of schnitzel and sausage and heard about the #eatwith experience. We were not prepared for the culinary adventure Alp served up on a Tuesday night. One of the most creative and delicious meals we’ve ever had—ever! The tapa styled bites numbered at least ten —they just kept coming. And the unique combination of ingredients was genius. Alp’s passion was reflected in every savory bite. Delicious kimchi and srirarcha are a few things you can make and take home after this fermentation workshop. In 4 hours we will learn the basic fermentation techniques and taste our way through ferments, from different kinds of kimchi to advanced ferments like coffee shoyu or yoghurt miso. We will go the extra mile by discussing how to make vinegars, kombucha, Asian ferment and also which veggies to ferment and what spices fit there.

Hola! I am Alp, a full-time architect but also a passionate hobby chef. I have been giving workshops for 2 years and I was even in the German cooking show Das Perfekte Dinner. I have lived in Vienna since 2008 and I come from a Jewish Turkish family. 2008 was also the year I started to learn more about my family's recipes. My family has a long cooking tradition with recipes that reflect the cuisines of both Istanbul and Coruña. Lots of olive oil, lots of spices and lots of vegetables are at the heart of my dishes. They are not necessarily all vegan or vegetarian.
